My 2020 Dreams

As I sit here in my sewing room on this first day of 2020, I remember that last January I set myself a lengthy list of goals. I'm happy to report that I did achieve some of those goals plus a few unplanned goals as the year went on. You may view a thumbnail list of my "2019 "Makes" just under the blog header (or click here).

For now, instead of setting goals, joining quilt-alongs, sew-alongs, and posting monthly and quarterly goal-setting, I've chosen to list my projects in the right-side column of this blog. I have quilts to finish and quilts to start, along with cross stich, embroidery, and crochet projects; plus I'll be starting seed indoors in a few days for my spring garden . . . I'm excited about it all!

This one just needs quilting!

A no-pattern-yet Christmas quilt started

Cross stitch project

My current projects are an unfinished Christmas quilt I started "just for fun", and Lori Holt's Vintage Christmas Cross Stitch Sampler. I have a quilt that has been sandwiched and ready to quilt for months, and I'd really like to get that done this month.

May you have a happy and healthy 2020!

  1. looks like you have a plan and will try to stick with it. I just found you a couple months ago but enjoy reading what you are up to - I'm in near by Arkansas - not a weather spotter but sure enjoy following the weather reports and amazed by our crazy weather

  3. Sounds like a good way to keep track of your projects, Linda! The one that struck me was getting seed started for your garden. Hard to imagine as we are just getting into solid winter here.

    1. With some exceptions, winter is pretty mild here, although the way I dress in boots and scarves and put our electric blanket at night on you'd never guess! I will be putting lettuce and peas in the ground in February and tomatoes hopefully toward the end of March.

  4. I love what you did with your lists of projects on your sidebar! I would love to do something like that on mine. Maybe I can figure that out. :) I love your quilt that needs to be quilted, and the Christmas quilt, too. I don't always like panels, but that looks like a really neat one!

    1. Thanks Diann! Earlier this year, I bought a few Christmas panels. The trend seemed to be "homey Christmas", and it really lured me in!

  5. You have plenty to keep you busy Linda. I will always be a fan of aqua and reds so that quilt is perfect! I like the panel as well - but how do you just start piecing without a plan??
Ray is the seed starter/veg gardener and now that he is retired he is excited to have more gardening seasons. He will be starting seeds soon but certainly not as early as you can in TX.

    1. Lol on starting without a plan - I don't know why I do things like that! As it turns out I found a free pattern online and am "kind of" following the general outline of it. I'm going to have to add borders to make the blocks work out, but it will be a very basic 9-patch with bigger blocks mix (fingers crossed).
I hope you will share a picture of Ray's garden sometime!

  6. I have set goals for myself as well, but I'm trying to not be too lofty. I would be happy enough to finish at least half of the projects that I started. So far I've finished two! Love that Christmas quilt above!
