The challenge is sponsored by Jen at Patterns by Jen, and she provides a monthly pattern that is free only during that month. The January block is a simple one that goes together quickly with strip piecing, unless you elect to go "scrappy", and it finishes at 12-1/2 inches. I say the pattern was simple, but as you see in my first attempt above, I still managed to place a 4-patch in the wrong direction!
My "yellow" is a dark gold that was hard to capture in a photo
This post is linked to the January linkup on Jen's blog, and you can see other yellow goodies by clicking on the logo above.
Great work on completing the first months challenge...
ReplyDeleteThanks Cheryll. I surprised even myself, since I only heard about it yesterday - lol!
DeleteLooks a fun challenge Linda and I love the golden yellow fabric you have chosen! Christine xx
ReplyDeleteThank you Christine! Hope you are having a great month. :)
Deletewhat a unique challenge and to do it base on birds ----...love that idea a lot. Goldfinch color...i like it. Indigo bunting is next - should be colorful!
ReplyDeleteIt is unique and something I can get into, because I only know the birds that frequent our area! Hope you are having a wonderful week Sandy!
DeleteThanks for the shout out, Linda - glad I can influence you to be distracted by a quilty squirrel, lol! Your block looks just great - I love your pretty fabric choices! Now I'm excited to see the next block, aren't you?
ReplyDeleteHa-ha! Yes I can't wait for a teal block; this will be fun. :)
DeleteYay! Great finish even if you had to rip out the one block. I am doing this one too - just finished the teal block on Sunday.
ReplyDeleteAnd the fact you are doing it too has been a factor for me to stay in the challenge!
DeleteWhat fun, naming a color scheme after a different bird every month! I would have liked to have seen a parrot among the choices. Imagine the colors!
