Dolly Quilt

Our granddaughter turned two this month, and I made a quilt for her "baby"

I tried to match (as closely as I could) the colors in the Honestly Cute dolly playpen we got her.

We celebrated on April 14 with burgers (and a vegan stew for the vegan granddaughter) and a Daniel Tiger cake. Everyone attended except our grandson (at Texas A&M) and our son-in-law, who was sick and unable to make the trip from north Texas. Our family isn't large but we have a good time together!

Our sweet little granddaughter grabbed the quilt as soon as she saw it and seemed delighted with it, which made my heart happy.

The back is a combo of a stash fabric and a very cute Cupcake Cafe by Laura Stone for Studio E.

I'm happy to carry on traditions. My paternal grandmother made me a dolly quilt in 1956 (yes!) when I was 8, and I kept it all these years. Last year I gave it to my daughter to keep for our granddaughter.

Papaw and granddaughter!

  2. What a darling idea for a darling girl! Oh, how lucky she is to have someone who makes a quilt for her baby. I would have LOVED that when I was a little girl. It really is cute Linda, and the fabrics are so bright and colorful.

    1. Thanks Diann. :) My daughter sent me a picture a few days ago, and my granddaughter was tucking in her baby to the playpen - lol!

  4. Such a sweet quilt. She will cherish it forever--just like you. And the dolly play pen--what fun. Just like the big version pack-and-plays. The Daniel Tiger party is such a fun theme. (I'm a big Mr. Rogers fan.) Oh, and I like your new (?) header. I get so used to just checking instagram lately and I forget to look at blogs. Shame on me if it's been up awhile.

    1. Thank you Janine! I was clueless about the whole Daniel Tiger theme. When my daughter sent me a link and asked if I could make a cake, I said, "Oh she wants a kitty cake?" and my daughter thought it was hilarious.
I tried a "kitty font" on my header. I'm still not sure I like it but thank you for noticing! :)
