After I made myself a mug rug, I decided to surprise my DIY Guy with one. "Mug Rug" didn't sound quite manly enough, so his is a Mug Mat.
His favorite "OU Sooners" coffee mug is crimson, so shades of red, black, and gray will compliment it!
This time I did regular straight-line quilting instead of quilt-as-you-go. After taking my usual long time choosing fabric, I finished it all up in less than an hour - almost instant gratification!
The back is solid red. Although it appears blue in the photo, the binding is a Kona gray.
I'm linking to Cynthia's Oh Scrap!
You did a beautiful job with the mug mat Linda! The fabric choices are just perfect! Christine x
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Christine! :)
DeleteI love this! Such a great combination of colors, and perfect for his mug! That Abbey Road fabric is one of my favorites. I made a jelly roll race quilt for one of my sons out of that fabric line (maybe it's called Road 15?) and I loved those fabrics!
ReplyDeleteYes I love that fabric too! I got some fat eighths or fat quarters (can't remember) and have yet to do anything other than a piece here and a piece there - maybe I'm saving it! I need to make a project out of it.
DeleteEvery time I read your blog, I think to myself, gosh, I really need to live closer to this woman. First of all, I am a great admirer of your fabric stash, second, I am an ever greater admirer of your talents. I love this mug mat! It is so cute, and the fabric choices are superb (I am totally crushing on that "Abbey Road" fabric!).
ReplyDeletePattie I keep saying we are long lost sisters! ;) Thank you so much for your kind words.
DeleteSweet project. Our neighbors are big fans and they went down to the bowl game. The tickets were his 'big present'. My hubs is excited about the big game tonight. We have a lot of Clemson-fan friends (Son #2's best friend is a senior) and my new co-MIL was an Alabama cheerleader in the 1980s! She's an absolutely rabid fan!!! I don't know who to cheer for...orange is my favorite color but I swoon over hound's tooth;) How else is a quilter to choose? Anyway, I do know who you guys will NOT be cheering for!!!
ReplyDeleteLol on quilter's choice on the game colors! We are not huge Alabama fans, but I do love their name "Crimson Tide", and their colors are close to OU colors!
DeleteOk Linda, I have no idea what OU stands for, please enlighten me?? Love the colours whoever they are and sometimes the simplest pattern are the best.
ReplyDeleteDawn, "OU" is the designation for University of Oklahoma, and their athletic teams are "Sooners". The OU Sooners football team is our favorite. :)
