Hand Pieced QAL Dorothy Block

This week's block for the Hand Pieced Quilt Along is an Ohio Star block with half square triangles in the corner. The two hosts of this QAL, Patty and Kristin, named this block "Dorothy", after one of the quilters in the novel Friendship Album 1933.

We are finally beginning to combine blocks we have already done, and this block involves half square triangles and quarter square triangles. Again, I did not mark the quarter-inch seams, and the block is a near-perfect 6-1/2 inches. So weird!

Patty hosts the link-up each week, and if you click on this link you can see many pretty blocks done by other participants.

  1. I smile to myself every time you say that you did not mark the seams. You are clearly a confident seamstress. I am a jittery one. Not only do I mark seams, but I almost hand turn the sewing machine so that it doesn’t go too fast and I get off track. Obviously I don’t do a lot of sewing in my life. I think if I did, I would become quite a drinking woman. Beautiful job again, Linda.

    1. LOL! You always make me laugh out loud Pattie. :D I started sewing when I was 14, and I found my groove early in it, so yeah I guess I'm confident. ;)
But you are an artist in your home and in your Etsy shop! I need to get some pointers from you on running mine (which has not one item for sale.)

  3. Well, Dorothy looks perfect, so I think you're on to something, Linda! I really like your background fabric with the little + signs on it.
