Little Joys Quilt Completed

I started this little Christmas quilt as a quilt-along back in July. Yes, life and distractions ensued, but better late than never!

I finished quilting last night, sewed the binding on this morning, and immediately boxed it up and mailed it to my sister-in-law, before I could fall in love with it and keep it like I did this one that was intended for her!

Each of the three designs - Christmas tree, wreath, and gift - was pieced from scraps. I enjoyed quilting a different design on each block. For piecing and quilting, I used Superior Threads So Fine 50 weight Genoa Gray (my favorite thread for everything), and for quilting the sashing I used metallic 40 weight in Raspberry.

The back was pieced with fabric from Basic Grey's Blitzen collection and an pretty white solid.

I had sewn a pieced binding early on, but last night I decided to use a fun print from Riley Blake's Postcards for Santa collection instead. I love the dots!

I'm linking this to Crazy Woman Quilts Finish It Up Friday and on Sunday to Quilting is More Fun Than Housework's Oh Scrap!

    1. Thank you Bernie! I kind of hope it finds a place on one of her beds, but it may end up stored with the Christmas decorations.

    1. Thank you so much Christine! I hope she loves it. I received her gift in the mail last night, so I guess we were on the same wave length. ;)

  4. What a pretty quilt! No doubt your sister-in-law will really appreciate it. It looks like the perfect size for a table topper or wall hanging, so she'll have lots of options. I do know what you mean about wanting to keep them after falling in love: it's so hard to let go!

  5. This just blows me away. I am going to have to learn how to make quilts. I really wish that we lived closer. I was watching a Hallmark Movie the other night (sappy, but fun). I can't even remember the name of it (yes, I watch that many of them), but it was a newer one that starred Candace Cameron Bure (I know, she is in a TON of Hallmark movies). She was at a Christmas theme lodge and sleeping in a four-poster bed underneath the most beautiful Christmas quilt. At that point I thought I really needed to make one. It was so pretty with holly leaves, etc. I think that yours is even more beautiful.

    1. Pattie you sure know how to make my head swell - thank you so much! I wish we lived closer too!! I also like sappy but fun movies; in fact I have It's a Wonderful Life on right now. Now I'm going to have to find that Hallmark movie and see the quilt.

  6. What a beautiful quilt Linda! I can see why you had to get it sent off right away. I would have been tempted to keep if for myself too. Thanks for sharing this festive little scrap quilt with Oh Scrap! Great job!
