Farm Girl Friday SAL - Week 8

The blocks for week 8 of Farm Girl Vintage Sew-Along are Farm Fresh Flower and Farmhouse. I started them last week but got interrupted by errands, family visits, yard work, and housework. OK, and yes I received an Etsy gift card as well as two Amazon gift cards for my birthday, so a lot of time was wasted gleefully spent trying to make my choices. This morning I finally found some time to finish these two cute blocks.

Honestly I can see myself making full quilts from either block - I really enjoyed the process and love the final results. Be sure to go here to Instagram to see many color variations of blocks made by the #farmgirlfridays group and here to see the blog of the author of Farm Girl Vintage, Lori Holt.

  1. Hee hee Linda.... I can tell you had a great time putting those gift cards to good use! These are fabulous blocks. I love the colours, especially on the flower block. These blocks are really great fun to put together aren't they?! Have a wonderful week! :) x

    1. Thanks Christine! Yes it is fun - I'm glad I joined the sew-along. It is a great incentive, and that's what I need. ;)

  2. Sounds like you got some thoughtful gifts. The Farm Fresh Flower is positively precious! I live in a "fake farmhouse" but it's cute, I need to figure out a way to make a block out of it. All of this Lori Holt sewing is so inspiring. I just ordered a bundle of retro so I can join in. I used a layer cake for my Great Granny Square quilt which left me with just a few wee scraps of retro frabrics. Now I'll be ready to sew retro again!

    1. Yay you're joining in! I'm not typically a retro gal either, but for some reason Lori's book really appealed to me. From what I've seen on your blog, your "fake" farmhouse is gorgeous!

  3. Happy Belated Birthday! Hope you enjoyed your shopping spree. Loving your farmhouse blocks. These look like the smaller size, right? Did you decide to combine the big and small blocks?

    1. Thanks Bernie! Yes I forgot to mention that these are the 6-inch blocks. I really don't think I'll be making any more of the large blocks and not sure if I'll combine them or not.
