Farm Girl Friday SAL Week 4

After receiving the highly anticipated Farm Girl Vintage book and reading it from cover to cover, I started pulling fabrics and eagerly began piecing my blocks.

Apron Strings

I opted for the 12 inch blocks, but now that I've started I realize how huge they are!

Autumn Star

The directions are clear and easy to follow, but I somehow managed to make the Autumn Star block a bit larger than the others.

Baby Chick

At first I tried to copy the colors in the book, but now I am simply putting together blocks that suit my fancy.

Baking Day

I'm still not caught up, but I'm having fun! Hopefully this link will work for you to see more photos of other participants' blocks.

  1. Very cute blocks! I do love the fabric choices. I was tempted to make the 12-inch blocks, too, but I quickly realized the quilt would be huge, so I am sticking with the 6-inch, but they are so hard to handle sometimes. I look forward to seeing more of yours, and I'm glad I found you!

  3. Hello Linda! Your blocks look fabulous! I have cut all my fabrics for the 12 inch blocks but, when I have pieced them, I may not put them all in the same quilt.... there are other ideas for the 12 inch blocks in the book, so I may use some of the blocks for some of those instead! I can't wait to get started piecing mine together... shouldn't take too long now I have chosen and cut all the fabrics! Have a lovely weekend! :) x

    1. Christine thanks for the nice words. Yes, choosing and cutting seem to take the most time. I woke up this morning thinking I might start making 6 inch blocks for the remainder and just use the ones I've made in another quilt. There are endless possibilities!

  4. These squares are fun to make, I started them too, stumped on the baking day set ( not sure what fabric to use, LOL!) Your little chicky with the flower fabric is so sweet. Enjoy!

  5. Cute bloks. Size is a difficult choice: 12" is large but 6" is quite small and harder to piece. You've chosen lovely fabrics. I'm glad you're following your fancy. Enjoy!

  7. Linda these blocks are adorable! I love the chick with the heart. It is so sweet. Could you alternate a row of 12" blocks with rows of 6" blocks? Five 12" blocks would be 60" across and then you could do a row of 10 six inch blocks? That way you don't have to fuss with quite as many 6" blocks which you mentioned are harder to piece. Just a thought. Whatever you decide, this is a great project.
